Former Rams Star Rooting for Eagles in Playoff Showdown
The Los Angeles Rams and the Philadelphia Eagles are going to square off in the Divisional Round of the 2025 Playoffs on Sunday afternoon. The winner of this contest moves into the NFC Championship Game to play either the Detroit Lions or Washington Commanders.
The Rams enter the game as 6.5-point underdogs, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. These teams linked up in Week 12, where the Eagles beat Los Angeles 37-20.
This contest will be very intense. Los Angeles got some good news when Sean McVay announced that Alaric Jackson, Tyler Higbee, Ahkello Witherspoon, and Bobby Brown are all expected to play.
With this matchup on the horizon, former Rams star Todd Gurley seems to be rooting for the Eagles. In a video posted online, Gurley is wearing a Jalen Hurts jersey. During the video, Gurley said, "This is the type of fit only winners wear... Philly Green."
Rams News: Todd Gurley Wears Jalen Hurts Jersey Ahead of Divisional Contest
This is something that will catch fans' attention. Gurley was the tenth-overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Rams. He spent five seasons with the team, logging 5,404 rushing yards, 2,090 receiving yards, and 70 total touchdowns. During that tenure, Gurley was a two-time First-team All-Pro and a three-time Pro Bowler.
Although he was a stud with the Rams, Gurley's time with the team ended on a bad note. Los Angeles ended up releasing the 30-year-old in 2020. He dealt with multiple knee injuries in Los Angeles, which significantly hindered his performance.
In July 2018, Los Angeles gave Gurley a four-year, $60 million extension but didn't last two years into the deal.
That rubbed him the wrong way, which led to him rooting against his former team.
He was an electric playmaker with the Rams, but those days are long gone. He'll be tuned into the game and seemingly rooting for the Eagles.
