Jim Harbaugh Makes Huge J.K. Dobbins Injury Announcement to Open Week 17
The Los Angeles Chargers are coming off a huge division victory last Thursday night against the Denver Broncos. This victory gave them the sixth seed in the AFC and significantly increased their odds of making the playoffs. Nevertheless, the Chargers are still down a key contributor, J.K. Dobbins, on offense.
Thankfully, fans received some good news about Dobbins' health on Monday. According to ESPN's Kris Rhim, Jim Harbaugh told reporters the Chargers are opening up Dobbins' 21-day practice window.
Chargers News: J.K Dobbins Activated from Injured Reserve
Dobbins has been sidelined since Week 12 with an MCL sprain. Injuries like these have plagued Dobbins' career to this point, so the fact it didn't end his season right away was great news.
Since Dobbins' injury, the Chargers have struggled to establish a run game, only having one game with 100 rushing yards in his absence. That's a huge issue, especially since head coach Jim Harbaugh is known for having strong running offenses.
That said, Dobbins being healthy again not only helps the running game but also helps the passing game. Since Dobbins is a dual-threat back, his ability to catch the ball will add a dynamic back to this Charges offense.
That should help ease some pressure back off of rookie receiver Ladd McConkey who has been having a great season.
It will be important to keep an eye on Dobbins' status this week on the injury report. However, even if he doesn't play this Sunday, he should be back for Week 18 and the wild card round.
