Jim Harbaugh's Next Chargers Coaching Hire is Obvious After Latest Ravens News
The Los Angeles Chargers are focused on improving the roster ahead of the 2025 season. After making the playoffs in the first year of the Jim Harbaugh and Joe Hortiz era, they were sent home in the Wild Card Round.
The Chargers didn't have anybody leave their coaching staff and plan to run it back in 2025. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the Baltimore Ravens and assistant head coach/pass game coordinator Chris Hewitt parted ways per Tom Pelissero.
With Hewitt available, the Chargers should bring him onto their staff.
NFL News: Chris Hewitt and Baltimore Ravens Parted Ways
Hewitt had been with the Ravens since 2012. During his time there, he held roles as Defensive back coach, Pass game coordinator & secondary coach before getting promoted to Assistant head coach in 2024.
He was someone who had a ton of respect in the Ravens building, but everything must come to an end. Now that he's available, Hewitt could be a great option for the Chargers. Los Angeles has Hortiz and offensive coordinator Greg Roman on their staff, who both had stops in Baltimore.
While they didn't make any changes to their staff, they could find a spot for Hewitt. He's been a part of eight different playoff teams with the Ravens and would bring some valuable experience to the staff.
The Chargers are looking to take a jump in 2025 and making small tweaks on the team may help them take that next step.
With Hewitt as the pass-game coordinator, the Ravens were seventh in the league in passing offense (237.4) and third in scoring offense (30.5). The Chargers aerial attack needs to elevate in 2025. This past season, they were 19th in passing offense (213.5).
Obviously, they need more playmakers but bringing in a voice like Hewitt could be a nice addition for Los Angeles.
