The news around the NFL has been nonstop since the legal tampering period opened up on Monday. The Los Angeles Chargers have a few quality additions that featured RB Najee Harris and CB Donte Jackson while re-signing Khalil Mack.
They have also seen some guys, Poona Ford and Joshua Palmer, sign elsewhere. On March 5, the Chargers officially released linebacker Joey Bosa in a move that created $25.36 million in cap space.
After sitting on the open market for a couple of days, he found a new home on Tuesday. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Buffalo Bills have agreed to terms with Bosa on a one-year, $12.6 million deal.
He will now get a chance to compete for a Super Bowl with a Bills team that has MVP QB Josh Allen.
Bosa was drafted by the Chargers with the third overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. In 107 career games with Los Angeles, the Ohio State product racked up 343 total tackles, 87 TFLs, 156 QB hits, and 72 sacks. The 29-year-old has four seasons with double-digit sacks under his belt.
Despite the success he's experienced in his career, Bosa has dealt with the injury bug for the past couple of seasons. He's been forced to miss time due to back, groin, and foot injuries over the last three seasons.
Last offseason, Bosa took a pay cut from $22 million down to $15 million in order to stay in Los Angeles, but that wasn't going to be the case again.
After playing for one franchise over nine years, he's headed to Western New York to play with one of the best teams in the league. He's played in four total playoff games during his career with the Chargers and is looking to up that number in 2025 with the Bills.
There were rumors that Bosa was interested in joining his brother in San Francisco, but he was going to make "less than $10 million," according to The Athletic's Mike Silver. He opted for more money while still landing with a contender.
