Khalil Mack Provides Huge Injury Update After Chargers Week 9 Win
By Cem Yolbulan
The Los Angeles Chargers came away with an impressive win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 9 to improve to 5-3 for the season. While it may be difficult for the Bolts to take over the Chiefs in the AFC West, they will have a great chance for a wild card spot if they can keep up this momentum. They will be relying on their elite defense, led by star pass rusher Khalil Mack, to do so.
Mack gave Chargers fans a scare at the end of the Browns game, getting removed from play and limping off the field. This naturally raised questions after the game. Mack told reporters what every Bolts fan wanted to hear, that he was fine and would be ready for next week, per Chargers insider Daniel Popper.
NFL News: Chargers' Khalil Mack Will Be Ready in Week 10
The Chargers haven't allowed more than 20 points in any game this season. They kept four out of their eight opponents to ten or fewer points. They have been the best defensive team in the NFL so far. Khalil Mack has been the most important component of that success.
Coming off a massive 17-sack season in 2023, some had expected age-related decline from the 33-year-old defender. Yet, the eight-time Pro Bowler is showing no sign of slowing down. Against the Browns, he had a sack, a forced fumble, two tackles for loss, and a QB hit. His PFF grade this season is 91.8, the third-best of his position.
The Chargers play the Titans and the Bengals at home in the next two weeks. This gives them an excellent opportunity to build upon their win streak. Having their best defender healthy for those games will be crucial in their chase for a playoff spot.
