The Los Angeles Lakers own one selection in the 2025 NBA Draft, and it checks in at No. 53 overall. Barring some move to acquire a first-round pick or move up in the second round, Rob Pelinka and the scouting staff will have to do their homework if they want to make the most of this selection.
It is far too difficult to predict how the 52 picks that come ahead of the Lakers' selection will play out, the draft is a crapshoot no matter the sport, but we have a sense of the type of prospects Los Angeles is looking for as the team's pre-draft workout schedule continues to take shape.
The Purple and Gold will have some not-so-friendly competition for this prospect as a workout with Los Angeles isn't the only one on the former Kentucky Wildcats star's schedule in the days leading up to the draft.
Lakers Battling Bitter Rival for Kentucky Prospect Ahead of NBA Draft
The Lakers will be bringing in former Kentucky standout Jaxson Robinson for a pre-draft workout in the coming days as he looks to overcome the wrist injury that prematurely ended his season with the Wildcats. In addition to working out for Los Angeles, Robinson also has visits scheduled with the Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the hated Boston Celtics.
“Try to knock them all out before the draft,” Robinson said, via Duane Rankin of AZCentral.com. “It’s been tough since I’ve been injured, but just getting these last workouts in, trying to get my face in front of people so they can see me again.”
Robinson knows he is playing catch-up when it comes to his workout schedule. He was unable to participate in the NBA Draft Combine and has only held workouts with the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings at this time. Despite that lost time, Robinson remains confident that these final few workouts before next week's draft will benefit him in the end.
This past season, Robinson put his skillset on display for fans and NBA executives to see as he averaged 13.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game in 24 appearances, all of which he started, for Kentucky.
If Robinson is one of the prospects that Pelinka and the front office covet, they will have to beat not only the Celtics but several of their Pacific Division rivals to the punch.
