At the four-minute mark of the 2nd quarter, NBA history was made, as LeBron and Bronny James both checked into the game for the Los Angeles Lakers against the Minnesota Timberwolves. This marked the first time a father and son had been on the NBA hardwood at the same time in the league’s history.

Bronny James, coming off being drafted in the 2nd round by the Los Angeles Lakers, many believe he doesn’t deserve to be on the Lakers roster due to his lack of experience and his need for growth in his game. Nevertheless, he made his NBA debut opening night for one of the most historic franchise in league history as well.

It was a touching moment seeing the whole family in Crypto.com Arena Tuesday night seeing brother or son play with dad or husband. It turned into a standing ovation in Los Angeles seeing history. In his first short spurt off the bench, James Jr. missed an open three, but if he had made it, it would’ve blown the roof off the arena.

With the move done so early in the game, let alone the season, it put any questions to bed on whether it would happen or happen soon. New Lakers coach, JJ Redick picked a perfect time to do the extra special moment. The game was not on the line at the time. It was perfect timing.

Some may not realize how rare this is in any sport. We may never see this again in our lifetimes or even the next generation.
