Lakers Provide Big Luka Doncic Injury Update After the Blockbuster Trade
By Cem Yolbulan
The Los Angeles Lakers shocked the basketball world over the weekend when they traded for Luka Doncic in exchange for Anthony Davis. In one of the most surprising blockbuster trades ever, the Lakers added one of the best players in the world and one of the league's brightest young stars.
Understandably, Lakers fans are desperate to see their new man in action. Doncic has been out since Christmas with a calf injury. When he was still in Dallas, the team had announced that he would be back before the All-Star break. During Tuesday's press conference, GM Rob Pelinka provided a similar update, referring to Doncic as "day-to-day".
Lakers News: Luka Doncic Will Return to Action Soon
Pelinka added that they are working on a return-to-play program for Doncic and have a 5-on-5 scrimmage planned tomorrow. Depending on how that goes and what the medical team says, Doncic should be back in action soon.
The Lakers have five more games before the All-Star break. After facing the Clippers, Warriors, Pacers, and the Jazz in Los Angeles over the next six days, the Lakers travel to Utah to face the Jazz on Wednesday, February 12, for their last game before the break.
Considering that Doncic is designated as "day-to-day", he has a good chance of returning toward the end of this slate. At the same time, calf injuries can be tricky, and keeping Doncic out for another week during the All-Star break to let him fully heal could do wonders for him for the final stretch of the season. Therefore, Lakers fans have to keep in mind the possibility that they may have to wait a little longer to see their new superstar in purple and gold.
