The first round of the NBA draft took place on Wednesday night, and 30 players were able to fulfill some lifelong dreams. The second round goes down on Thursday, and free agency is set to start on July 30th.
The Los Angeles Lakers have some holes on the roster that need to be filled out, but there's a report that has emerged, highlighting that the Lakers have been in contact with the Miami Heat regarding Andrew Wiggins, according to Anthony Irwin. And forward Rui Hachimura is someone who could be included in the deal.

Lakers Discussing Acquiring Andrew Wiggins in Trade
Irwin wrote, "The Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat have maintained further negotiations on a trade involving Andrew Wiggins, according to sources with knowledge of the situation, speaking on the condition of anonymity. The Heat would be looking to land Rui Hachimura and his expiring contract, plus further expiring money to match salaries."
He added, "A Wiggins-Hachimura swap wouldn't work straight up, so one of either Maxi Kleber or Gabe Vincent's contracts would have to also be included. League sources believe Miami would push for Dalton Knecht in the trade, as the Lakers may not want to trade their 2031 or '32 first-round pick before they address their vacant center position."
Hachimura is going into the final year of his current deal at $18.2 million, while Wiggins has a $28 million deal cap hit in 2025-26 with a player option at $30 million for the 2026-27 season.
Wiggins had a solid campaign between the Warriors and the Heat last season. He averaged 18 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists while shooting 44% from the field and 37% from beyond the arc. The 30-year-old can score from all three levels and would bring more defensive intensity to the floor.
Meanwhile, Hachimura logged 13.1 points, five rebounds, while shooting 50% from the floor and 41% from downtown in 2024-25. He's been a solid player for them over the last three seasons, but may be on his way out.
Irwin added that if Los Angeles wants to keep Hachimura, they would certainly have to include some type of first-round capital in addition to either a pick swap or the No. 55 pick in the second round.
This will be something to keep an eye on, but it's clear Los Angeles has an interest in Wiggins, who's an All-Star and NBA Champion.
