Trade rumor season has hit the NBA, and the Los Angeles Lakers could be on the verge of diving into the deep end and making their first swap of the summer.

While nothing seems imminent, several teams are looking for backcourt help, and, according to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, the Indiana Pacers, New Orleans Pelicans, and Sacramento Kings are at the front of the line when it comes to their desire to add a veteran point guard.

This is great news for Rob Pelinka and the Lakers front office. They should do everything they can to make a move involving one veteran on their roster before another franchise swoops in and jumps at the opportunity.

Lakers Suddenly Have Perfect Trade Partner for Veteran PG Gabe Vincent

Gabe Vincent's time in Los Angeles is likely to come to an end sooner rather than later. The franchise appears to have already lined up a replacement with the rumors concerning Los Angeles's interest in signing free agent point guard De'Anthony Melton to a contract. Getting Vincent and his $11.5 million contract off the books should be a priority for the Lakers and the three teams mentioned above should be on Rob Pelinka's speed dial.

Vincent is a one-trick pony, for lack of a better term, as he provides volume shooting and very little else. A team in the Lakers' position cannot afford to be spending as much money as they are on Vincent when that is all that he brings to the table.

Should any of Indiana, New Orleans, or Sacramento be willing to give up anything of value in exchange for Vincent, the Purple and Gold should jump at the opportunity. One way or another, having Vincent on the roster once training camp opens would be a disappointing outcome for Lakers fans.

Expect Los Angeles to be very active this holiday weekend as there are no days off this time of year for the Lakers' front office.
