Latest Injury Highlights How Lakers' Front Office is Sabotaging the Team
The Los Angeles Lakers underwent a change at head coach this offseason, handing over the reins to JJ Redick. The Lakers have come out more energetic and dialed in this season.
They own a 10-7 record but have dropped three games in a row. The latest loss came on Thursday night against the Phoenix Suns in an NBA Cup showdown. In that matchup, they lost center Jaxon Hayes again to an ankle injury. This injury was the same ankle that forced him to miss the past two weeks and he re-aggravated it in this contest.
Lakers News: Jaxson Hayes Hurt His Ankle Again
Although the Lakers are going to update his status on Wednesday afternoon, this injury leaves Los Angeles extremely thin in the frontcourt.
They are already without Jarred Vanderbilt and Christian Wood. Now, adding Hayes to the mix leaves Christian Koloko as the only other center on the roster.
This is malpractice by the front office, leaving the frontcourt thin behind Anthony Davis. He's been playing at an MVP level but has a history of picking up injuries. Not getting quality depth at center was a massive mistake by Rob Pelinka and company.
Fans aren't thrilled to see yet another injury happen and can't understand how Pelinka wasn't proactive in adding more talent to the group.
For the Lakers to get where they want to be this season, they need a healthy Davis and LeBron James. One way to make sure that happens is getting them quality backups who can step in when needed. Los Angeles doesn't have that right now but needs to find a way to get that done.
