Lions Coach Already Betting Against Rams Winning Wild Card Game vs. Vikings
The Los Angeles Rams are getting none of the respect they deserve this postseason. The team was riding a five-game winning streak heading into Week 18, and they came within five points of extending it to six even though their backups were playing in a meaningless game.
Despite that, they have the second-worst odds to win the NFC, per FanDuel Sportsbook, and are also 2.5-point home underdogs in the Wild Card round.
It's not just the gamblers betting against the Rams this week though. Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell was caught on camera making it clear how he sees the Rams-Vikings going this weekend. Add him to the list of people not taking the Rams seriously enough.
Dan Campbell Expects Vikings to Beat Rams in Wild Card Round
Dan Campbell was caught on camera telling Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell "I'll see you in two weeks" after the Lions defeated the Vikings on Sunday Night Football. The result of that game earned the Lions a first-round bye and established the Vikings as the Rams' Wild Card opponent.
Campbell saying he'll see O'Connell in two weeks implies a few things:
First, he obviously expects the Vikings to advance. It also means he's banking on the Philadelphia Eagles defeating the Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeating the Washington Commanders. Since the Packers and Commanders are lower seeds than the Vikings, they would be the Lions' Divisional Round opponent rather than the Vikings.
Of course, that hyper-specific scenario opens up a more generous interpretation for Campbell's comments: he wasn't really thinking through the entire hypothetical playoff picture, and instead was just making some encouraging comments to a rival head coach that has his respect.
But hey, it's playoff time, and who isn't looking for a little bulletin board material, right? Let's hope these comments light a fire under the Rams.
