This past weekend, one of the biggest trades in NBA history happened. Shortly after the win over the New York Knicks on Saturday, a mega deal trade went down. The Los Angeles Lakers traded Anthony Davis, Max Cristie, and a 2029 first-round pick to the Dallas Mavericks for Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris.

This trade came as a shocker to everyone in the league. There wasn't any indication that Doncic was on the trade block but when the opportunity presented itself, Los Angeles couldn't say no.

With Doncic officially a Laker, he made his first comments on social media.

Lakers News: Luka Doncic Makes 1st Comment as a Laker

On his X account, Doncic wrote, "Grateful for this amazing opportunity. Basketball means everything to me, and no matter where I play the game, I’ll do so with the same joy, passion and goal - to win championships."

The fact that the Lakers were able to land Doncic wasn't something that anyone imagined. Doncic is a five-time All-Star and five-time All-NBA First Team. He's a 25-year-old superstar who has shown the ability to be the No. 1 on his team.

The Lakers have been looking for another star to take some of the burden off of LeBron James, who just turned 40 years old.

In Doncic's career, he averages 28.6 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 8.3 assists. Although he's nursing a calf injury, the expectation is he will begin ramping up his rehab to return to the floor shortly.

There were some questions on whether James will stick around with Los Angeles, but it has been reported by senior NBA insider Chris Haynes that James intends to be with the Lakers past the Feb. 6 trade deadline.

The new duo of James and Doncic looks to take the league by storm as they chase another championship.
