NFL Makes History With Surprise Chargers Schedule Change
The Los Angeles Chargers are 7-3 on the season and are one of the hottest teams in the NFL. They've won four straight and five of the last six games. In the first season with Jim Harbaugh at the helm, Los Angeles has taken a jump.
The Chargers are positioned to make a playoff push in the second half of the year. They will also be under the bright lights multiple times over the next couple of weeks but on Friday, they were rewarded with another primetime contest.
Chargers News: Chargers Will Play On TNF in Week 16
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the NFL made their first-ever Thursday Night Football flex. In Week 16, the Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Chargers will now be clashing on Thursday Night Football, replacing the Cleveland Browns vs. Cincinnati Bengals.
The Chargers and Broncos were originally going to play on Dec. 22 at 1:05 PST but with both teams looking like playoff contenders, the NFL decided to put them in the primetime slot.
These teams squared off in Week 6 in Denver, where Los Angeles came out with a 23-16 victory.
This move highlights the impact that Harbaugh has on the Chargers. Last season, Los Angeles went 5-12, but they have already surpassed that win total. This roster isn't as talented as last year's team, but the coaching is at another level.
This game will have two great coaches: Harbaugh and Sean Payton. The matchup can have seeding implications in the AFC playoff picture and will be featured in the Week 16 edition of Thursday Night Football.
