Overpaid Ram Robbed the Team Blind With 2024 Performance

The Los Angeles Rams exceeded all preseason expectations once again. The team that wasn't given much of a chance to make the playoffs before the year made the postseason for the second straight year and had a competitive game with the now-Super Bowl favorites in the Divisional Round.

Not every Rams player performed above expectations, however. In fact, there were plenty of veterans who didn't live up to their contract.

At the top of that list is offensive lineman Joe Noteboom. The 29-year-old had another injury-riddled season after suffering an ankle injury in the Week 1 loss to the Lions. He returned in November but was used sparingly as a backup since Alaric Jackson became the full-time left tackle and Rob Havenstein took over at right tackle.

As a result, Noteboom played in only four games this season, one of them coming in the Week 18 loss when the Rams rested their key starters. In those appearances, Noteboom had a 60.0 PFF grade, his third-worst mark of his seven-year career.

Since signing a three-year, $40 million deal with the Rams in the 2022 offseason, it has been a frustrating journey for Noteboom. He has only appeared in 24 games since then, making him one of the most overpaid Rams on the roster.

Noteboom has been a major contributor in Los Angeles since being drafted in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He played a large part in the Super Bowl win but the injuries have taken a toll on him. After ACL and MCL tear early in his career, followed by a torn Achilles tendon during the 2022 season sapped his physicality and athleticism.

As he approaches 30 and the end of his contract, it's hard to see a future for Noteboom in Los Angeles. Let's hope he ends his Rams tenure with another trip to the Super Bowl.
