There are certain things that basketball players cannot do when tensions boil over on the hardwood, and Los Angeles Lakers fans were reminded of that fact by one of their own on Monday.
While injuries prevented him from ever living up to his true potential during his tenure with the Purple and Gold, former NBA All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins has continued his playing career outside of the United States and found himself in the headlines this week for all the wrong reasons.
Former Laker Suspended by Overseas Team After Incident With Fans
Cousins, a member of the Puerto Rican league's Guaynabo Mets, has been suspended for the rest of the season and fined up to $10,000 after an incident during Monday night's game against Bayamón Vaqueros.
As you can see from the clip below, Cousins and a fan sitting courtside got into a back-and-forth, which led to the fan giving Cousins the two-finger salute and the big man needing to be restrained by his teammates.

Unfortunately, things just got worse from here as the former NBA star had to be stopped from entering the crowd after a beer was thrown in his direction following his ejection. Naturally, Cousins took offense to this act by the opposing fans, and his short temper was put on display.

There is no excuse for Cousins' actions here. You can never attempt to confront fans in the crowd, no matter what may have occurred. At the same time, the actions caught on camera by not only the fan sitting courtside but those who threw things at Cousins as he left the floor are in no way innocent bystanders in all of this.
As a result, those fans in question are being identified by name and have been banned from attending any home games at Rubén Rodríguez Coliseum for the remainder of the season.
