10 Rams Entering Their Final Season With Los Angeles

With Week 1 of the 2024 NFL regular season set to kickoff this week, it's a good time to look ahead at a few players who could spend their last seasons in Los Angeles.

9. John Johnson III

The Rams re-signed the veteran safety to a one-year, $1.37 million this offseason. Johnson returned to Los Angeles last summer after getting cut by the Cleveland Browns.

Johnson spent two years in Cleveland after signing a three-year, $33.75 million contract in the 2021 offseason. However, the veteran defensive back couldn’t finish his contract with the Browns and played well last season in Los Angeles.

Johnson had 42 combined tackles, six pass deflections, and two interceptions in 17 games (eight starts). Even though he wasn’t a full-time starter in 2023, Johnson still posted a 61.5 completion percentage allowed on targets and only gave up two touchdowns.

The 28-year-old Johnson will enter this season as the Rams’ starting free safety and will play an integral role in the team’s pass defense.

Unlike some of the other players on this list, I could see LA’s brass giving Johnson another one-year deal next offseason if he solidifies the backend of the secondary. The Rams could explore finding Johnson’s replacement in the 2025 NFL Draft, but that will depend on what happens in 2024.
