2. Joey Bosa

Defensive end Joey Bosa has been in Los Angeles since being selected with the third overall pick in 2016. Bosa is known for being a quality pass rusher off the edge who wins with power. In 2020, Bosa and the Chargers agreed to a five-year, $135 million contract extension with $78 million guaranteed.

Since signing the new deal, Bosa has been hit by injuries. He's missed at least four games in three of the last four seasons. It's been especially bad lately, logging at least eight missed games in each of the last two years.

In 2022, the Ohio State product missed all but five contests due to groin surgery. The injuries followed him into the next season. Last year, Bosa suffered a right foot sprain and missed eight outings.

He turns 29 in July and has two years left on his deal. With the Chargers limited cap space, they may need to look at getting rid of Bosa. Los Angeles would free up $14.4 million in cap space if they were to release Bosa in the offseason. They would have to eat a $22.2 million dead cap hit but it could be worth it.

Head coach Jim Harbaugh and general manager Joe Hortiz are looking to revamp this whole team and that extra money could go a long way.

Bosa has been a great player for the Chargers over the last eight years, yet it may be time for a change of scenery.

Additionally, he's only played in more than 12 games just three times in his career.
