3. Kimani Vidal

Even though the sixth-round running back ran the ball well in the Chargers’ preseason loss to the Los Angeles Rams, there’s still a small chance that Vidal doesn’t make the 53-man roster.

The former Troy star running back made his preseason debut against the Rams after missing the first game because of an injury. Vidal ran with a purpose against Sean McVay’s club and made the most of his opportunities.

The 5-foot-8 running back had 49 yards on 11 carries plus two receptions for eight yards. He was one of the lone bright spots on a pedestrian Chargers’ offense. Vidal is competing against Isaiah Spiller and Jaret Patterson for the RB3 spot.

Spiller hasn’t run the ball well in the preseason (1.7 yards per carry), while Patterson has made it a competition (4.4 yards per carry). That said, if Vidal can put together one more strong outing against the Dallas Cowboys, he’ll make it a tough decision for Harbaugh and Co.
