Trade Package No. 3

Los Angeles sends Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, D’Angelo Russell, and two first-round picks (2025, ‘28) to Cleveland for Donovan Mitchell and Caris LeVert

Among the three potential trade packages, file this one under the most unlikely to happen as it would involve Russell accepting his player option. Russell hasn’t decided on his option for next season. But if the veteran point guard accepts it, the Lakers could use it in a trade to upgrade their roster.

If the Cavaliers were to accept this trade, Russell would be moved elsewhere as he cannot play next to Garland. Reaves is a better fit next to Garland as he doesn’t need the ball in his hands to make plays on offense.

As for the Lakers, they get a veteran wing in LeVert, who would be a free agent after the 2024-25 season and provide some offense.

The 29-year-old wing is posting 14 points, 5.1 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game this season. However, he’s shooting 42.1 percent from the field and 32.5 percent from beyond the arc. The veteran forward could be a quality addition off the bench and his contracts come off the books, giving the Lakers more roster flexibility next offseason.
