3 Free Agent Quarterbacks the Rams Can Sign as Stetson Bennett Insurance
2. Carson Wentz
Here's the least exciting option on the list, I'll admit it. But familiarity has to count for something, and Sean McVay decided to pick up Carson Wentz last year for a reason.
We only got to see one game out of Wentz, so I'm not going to read too much into his solid performance, but that certainly does count for something.
So this is a situation where being patient as a backup could not only help Winston develop his game under McVay, but could earn him a perfect showcase opportunity in hopes of making a late-career resurgence as a starter.
And like I mentioned for Tannehill, let's keep in mind that we're comparing him to other backups for this role. Even if he doesn't have what it takes to be a QB1, most backups around the league aren't even good enough to earn enough starts to get ridiculed in the first place.,
No other team has had a better view of what Wentz has to offer at this stage in his career than the Rams, and if Sean McVay liked what he saw and wants to bring Wentz back, then who are any of us to second-guess the move?
