2. Mecole Hardman

Valdes-Scantling isn't the only former Kansas City Chiefs WR that the Chargers can still target.

Mecole Hardman is another interesting name that Los Angeles can still pursue in free agency. The former Georgia Bulldog has spent the majority of his NFL career with the Chiefs (plus a brief stint with the New York Jets), turning 166 receptions into 2,212 yards and 16 TDs. He also earned a Pro Bowl appearance as a rookie due to his success as a kick/punter returner.

Hardman is a streaky player, no doubt, but I wouldn't mind the Chargers taking a swing on him.

For starters, he's still only 26 years old until next March, so his prime may be right around the corner. Secondly, his speed (4.33-second 40-yard dash) would help add another dimension to Los Angeles' passing game. He could also be thrown into the special teams mix given that the Chargers averaged the 11th-fewest kick return yards in 2023.

Let's also not forget about the experience that Hardman brings to the table. The Bowman, GA native was a part of each of the Chiefs' last three Super Bowl runs. Although he didn't carry the team at any point in those runs, he did score the game-winning TD against the San Francisco 49ers at Super Bowl LVIII.

While I don't think he has it in him to be a WR1, Hardman has more than what it takes to help the Chargers either as a WR3/4 or returner.
