3 Free Agents the Rams Should Sign Before Mandatory Minicamp

David Bakhtiari
If Donovan Smith is not an option, the Rams could turn their focus on another experienced veteran. David Bakhtiari left the Green Bay Packers this offseason after 11 years there. He has made three Pro Bowls and earned All-Pro honors twice as a blindside protector. Now, at age 32, he has entered a new stage in his career.
That new stage means that no team will bring him in as a starter. After only appearing in 13 games over the course of the last three seasons, it's impossible to trust him with a large role on the offensive line. But, for a team with an iffy tackle situation, he makes a ton of sense.
And as outlined above, the Rams' tackle situation is iffy.
Since we haven't seen much of Bakhtiari recently, it's hard to know his playing level right now. But when he was healthy, he was one of the best tackles in the league. Should the Rams take a flyer on him and see if he can stay healthy?
It's not like Alaric Jackson and Joe Noteboom are some world-beaters. There is certainly a world in which Bakhtiari could even start for this team. On a one-year prove-it deal, he should certainly be considered.
