Lakers fans are desperately waiting for their team to make a big move before the 2024-25 season starts. They are rightfully frustrated by GM Rob Pelinka's inaction in the offseason. They also started dreaming when they saw the LeBron James-Steph Curry pairing in the Paris Olympics.

The Team USA dominance led by LeBron and Steph this summer got Laker fans salivating. The seamless fit and beautiful chemistry between the two biggest superstars in NBA history made every basketball fan think, "What if they were on the same NBA team?"

But, how likely is that scenario?

Let's make this clear. The Warriors aren't trading Steph Curry unless he specifically asks to be moved. The same goes for the Lakers and LeBron James. The pipe dream of uniting those two hinges on one of them demanding they get traded to the other's team.

Considering where each franchise is, that is not impossible. Neither team is close to contending. The Warriors missed the playoffs last year and the Lakers lost in the first round. If Curry and LeBron want to play meaningful spring basketball at the dawn of their careers, it would make sense for both of them to want to join forces.

Unfortunately for the Lakers, that is more likely to happen in Golden State. The Warriors have more assets and draft capital to make a trade work. The Lakers have limited resources to give the Warriors what they would want in a potential Curry trade.

We are not interested in sending LeBron to Golden State, however. Therefore, let's try to bring Curry to Los Angeles. If LeBron were to say he isn't going anywhere and wants Curry to join him, it would have to be for one of these trade packages.
