3 Hypothetical Trade Packages That Could Actually Bring Steph Curry to the Lakers
By Cem Yolbulan
Trade Package #3:
There is a chance that the only way the Warriors part ways with the greatest player in their franchise history is if they get back Anthony Davis from the Lakers. This would be an understandable approach. Davis would keep them relevant and competitive as he presumably has three to five years of elite two-way play left in him.
In terms of the fairness of the deal, an AD, Reaves, and a first-rounder for Curry is a balanced deal for both sides. However, does it make sense for the Lakers?
Losing Davis in a potential Curry trade defeats the purpose of the trade. Yes, watching LeBron and Steph together in a Lakers uniform would be electrifying and one can argue that makes this trade worth it by itself. However, that duo without Davis is probably still not a championship contender.
Unless the Lakers make other moves around them. This trade would allow the Lakers to keep some of their ammo to make further moves. They would still have their 2031 first-round pick, their pick swaps, and their young players to get solid role players around Curry and James. So, it may be worth considering if it came down to it.
