The Los Angeles Lakers are back to the drawing board in their search for their next head coach after their No. 1 target Dan Hurley turned them down on Monday. Despite the fact that the Lakers were laser-focused on bringing the UConn head coach to Los Angeles and giving him a massive offer, they weren't able to lure him out of Connecticut.

Now, the Lakers' top brass have to continue evaluating and interviewing other head coaching candidates to find the right name for the job. Let's take a look at who the most likely coaches to be hired are.

JJ Redick

After Hurley's rejection, it is safe to assume that JJ Redick is back to being the frontrunner for the job. The Lakers will certainly do their due diligence and interview other candidates but it seems like this is Redick's job to lose.

Since the Lakers fired Darvin Ham, there was widespread expectation that LeBron James wanted his podcast co-host Redick as the next head coach. LeBron had long been a fan of Redick's basketball mind and considering that the former Duke star has interviewed for other head coaching jobs in the NBA, the fit made a ton of sense.

It is also a very risky move. Redick has no prior coaching experience. As good as he may be as an analyst, head coaching in the NBA is much more than just X's and O's. Whether the 39-year-old can manage personalities, control the locker room, and get buy-in from his players in his first stint as a head coach remains to be seen.
