3 Rams on the Trade Block After the NFL Draft
2.Ben Skowronek, WR
If the Rams want to free up a roster spot for a younger player or potential free-agent addition, Ben Skowronek might be on his way out of Los Angeles.
A seventh-round pick in 2021, Skowronek hasn't exactly made his mark at the NFL level. After a 2022 campaign that saw him set career highs in receptions (39) and receiving yards (376), the former Northwestern/Notre Dame product came back down to earth last season, registering just eight catches for 66 yards and a touchdown. He also saw his offensive snap count drop from 696 to 216.
Even though he's entering his fourth NFL season, Skowronek is already turning 27 years old next month. In other words, there's a good chance that he won't improve beyond what he's already shown. Some players do have late-career breakouts, but little about the Fort Wayne, IN native's performance thus far shows that he has more to give.
The Rams would also save up $1.055 million by trading Skowronek at any point during the offseason. While being cash-strapped isn't an issue at the moment, it doesn't hurt to have extra cash lying around if GM Snead plans to target other teams' training camp cuts this summer.
Unless he completely balls out for the remainder of the offseason, Skowronek's future with the Rams is far from secure.
