3 Ravens Greg Roman Could Lure to the Chargers This Offseason
2. Gus Edwards / J.K. Dobbins
If there's one thing Greg Roman loves, it's to run the football. His Ravens offenses ranked no worse than third-best in rushing yards in each of his four seasons at the helm, while also boasting three top-10 finishes in touchdowns on the ground.
Roman's affinity for the run game should be a major asset when trying to recruit RBs this offseason, especially if Austin Ekeler departs. That could pave the way for Gus Edwards or J.K. Dobbins to switch from one Harbaugh to the other in 2024.
Edwards posted back-to-back 700-yard campaigns and eight combined rushing TDs in Roman's first two years in Baltimore, showing a clear connection. Meanwhile, Dobbins recorded an impressive 805 yards and nine rushing touchdowns as a rookie under Roman, though injuries have kept him from reaching those heights since.
Both Edwards and Dobbins are solid talents, but no team around the league is looking to break the bank to sign them. That could work to the Chargers' advantage with salary cap constraints informing their roster decisions this offseason.
Plus, neither guy is in the top tier of running back free agents, so Los Angeles may face less competition while more desperate teams chase the likes of Saquon Barkley and Josh Jacobs.
