3 Sparks Heading Into Their Final Season in Los Angeles

With the 2024 WNBA regular season set to tip-off this week, it's a good time to look ahead at a few players who could be spending their last seasons with the Sparks.

2. Dearica Hamby

Hamby is another Sparks player scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent next season, but I believe there’s a good chance she will stay in Los Angeles with Miller. Hamby will be one of LA’s top-scoring options this season, along with Lexie Brown.

In her first year with the Sparks, Hamby averaged 9.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 24.8 minutes per game. The veteran forward isn’t much of a three-point shooter (28.6% in her career), but she can do a little bit of everything on the floor.

Heading into this season, Hamby has taken her game to another level, which was showcased in the preseason. The ninth-year forward averaged 19.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game. She also shot 63.9 percent from the field, which is excellent.

We already knew she was one of the better defenders in the league. But if her offense can take that jump this season, it will be a huge boost for the Sparks’ offense and could make her one of the top free-agent targets.

With Nneka Ogwumike and Jordin Canada on different teams, the Sparks must make up for 32.4 points per game this season. It won’t be easy, but if Hamby’s offensive spark from the preseason is real, LA will be in excellent shape.
