3 Sparks Heading Into Their Final Season in Los Angeles

With the 2024 WNBA regular season set to tip-off this week, it's a good time to look ahead at a few players who could be spending their last seasons with the Sparks.

3. Aari McDonald

Unlike Hamby and Nurse, McDonald is scheduled to be a restricted free agent. However, she could be playing elsewhere in 2025, if things don’t pan out with the Sparks.

The former first-round pick was a part of the sign-and-trade involving Jordin Canada, sending the former Sparks point guard to Atlanta. McDonald’s three years with the Dream were okay as she averaged 8.6 points in 21.5 minutes per game.

However, as a former third-overall pick, there are higher expectations for McDonald to produce and we saw a little bit of that in the preseason with the Sparks. In Los Angeles’ final preseason game against Phoenix, McDonald went off for 11 points (4-6 FG, 3-5 3pt), three assists, and a rebound in 18 minutes.

The former University of Arizona standout struggled some with the turnovers (6). But the Sparks hope that won’t become an issue in the preseason, as they will depend on her to provide quality backup minutes at guard for Brown or Layshia Clarendon.
