Joe Alt at No. 5 may not have been a terrible pick in a vacuum, but it's not at all what Los Angeles Chargers fans wanted. This team is desperate for wide receiver help, and Jim Harbaugh and company passed on a guy who looks like a surefire star in Malik Nabers.

Even after having a chance to cool down overnight, Chargers fans are still frustrated with the lack of wide receiver help. On the plus side, there are still some mighty good ones left on the board, and the Chargers hold the No. 5 pick in the second round (No. 37 overall) on Friday night.

The team can absolutely not afford to ignore the position again, and these are the three wide receivers the Chargers must target.

1. Adonai Mitchell, Texas

Adonai Mitchell is the best receiver still on the board, and nobody would have batted an eye if the Bills stayed at 32 (or even at 29) and selected him.

Mitchell's numbers aren't going to jump off the page and wow you — he caught 55 passes for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns in his lone season at Texas in 2023. But part of that was because he had to play second-fiddle to Xavier Worthy, which isn't exactly an indictment of Mitchell.

Mitchell probably needs to gain some weight and strength at the pro level, but he's 6-foot-4 and ran a 4.34-second 40-yard dash. His athleticism is elite, and the sky is the limit for his upside.

The biggest issue with Mitchell is that he may not make it past the Bills at No. 33, and if he does then he's potentially the New England Patriots' target at No. 34. If he's still available at 37, though, the Chargers simply can't pass on him.
