The Los Angeles Lakers are likely moving on from head coach Darvin Ham. After the first-round loss to the Denver Nuggets, Ham is on the hot seat and it would take a miracle for him to be the head coach of the Lakers for next season.

Who should the Lakers replace Ham with? There are plenty of solid options available for Los Angeles. The pressure will be on Jeanie Buss and general manager Rob Pelinka to get this right as it will be the most important decision for the franchise going forward. Let's look at the options.

Frank Vogel

One option for the Lakers would be bringing back an old friend. Firing Frank Vogel and hiring Darvin Ham has been evidence that the grass is not always greener on the other side.

Vogel had led the Lakers to an NBA championship in his first year, then dealt with significant injuries to his stars the next two seasons. The front office didn't do him any favors by trading for Russell Westbrook and giving him an extremely flawed roster. As is always the case, he faced serious criticism from the media and Lakers fans. After failing to make the playoffs in the 2021-22 season, Vogel was fired.

However, the fact remains the same. Frank Vogel is a good head coach. He has built great defenses in multiple stops and found postseason success.

Vogel hasn't found the success he was hoping for with the Phoenix Suns. Despite having the trio of Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal, Phoenix got swept by the Timberwolves in the first round. Having lost the locker room and the confidence of his players, Vogel will likely get fired this offseason.

The Lakers and Vogel already know each other and it would be a seamless fit. If LeBron James and Anthony Davis approve, the sides shouldn't shy away from a potential reunion.
