4 Realistic Lakers Trade Targets at the Deadline
By Cem Yolbulan
The clock is ticking for the Los Angeles Lakers. The trade deadline is only a few days away and the Lakers still haven't made their much-discussed move.
If the Lakers want to make another deep postseason run, they need to upgrade their roster. They have been around .500 all season and they will have a challenging path to the Conference Finals again if they hang around the Play-in Tournament at the end of the season.
They had their eyes set on Dejounte Murray for the past month but those negotiations seem to have stalled as the Atlanta Hawks reportedly demand Austin Reaves in such a deal. That is understandably a non-starter for Los Angeles.
Fortunately for them, however, there are still plenty of candidates on the trade market that would help the Lakers significantly. Let's take a look.
1. Alex Caruso
The 29-year-old guard spent the first four seasons of his NBA career in Los Angeles and contributed to the 2020 championship. He is still one of the best perimeter defenders in the league with a much better outside shot.
Caruso is an excellent fit on any team, and the Lakers are no exception. He can guard multiple positions, hit open shots, and make plays on both ends of the floor. He is also under contract for another season after this one for a very reasonable amount.
The Bulls are reportedly asking for multiple draft picks for Caruso but if the Lakers can manage to get him for less, he would be as good of an addition as anybody at the trade deadline.
