The peak of free agency and the offseason is over in the NBA. These are the slow days when players, teams, and fans are just waiting for training camp and the preseason to start.

That doesn't mean, however, that all rosters are finalized. There are still plenty of free agents waiting to be picked up. Some players still available will sign contracts before the start of the season. Some, like the players below, will likely not. Let's take a look at the former Lakers whose chances of an NBA comeback are slim.

Isaiah Thomas

The veteran guard has been desperately trying to make an NBA comeback for the last couple of years. He got a chance last year with the Phoenix Suns, appearing in six regular-season games. He has been relentlessly trying his luck in workouts and G League teams but it may be time for him to accept his fate.

In his prime, Thomas was a force to be reckoned with. An unstoppable scorer despite his size, Thomas with the Boston Celtics was an All-NBA level player. Injuries unfortunately sapped his dynamism over the years. Now, as an undersized, under-athletic 35-year-old guard, he is finding it hard to re-establish his career as a bench player.

At this point, he may be better off trying his luck in the G League or overseas. His NBA dream might be over.
