The Los Angeles Chargers have high aspirations for the 2024 season after a disappointing end to last year. With the massive Jim Harbaugh hire and radical changes in the organization, it is a new era in Los Angeles.

However, the Bolts don't have the financial resources to make a big splash in free agency. They are one of the most heavily impacted teams in the NFL as they are $45 million over the 2024 cap space. They will have to do a lot of wheeling and dealing to get as below that as possible, but they can still target some impending free agents to bolster their roster.

Here are five free-agent targets they should prioritize this offseason.

Gus Edwards, RB

This one makes too much sense to pass. The Chargers need to retool their running back room as Austin Ekeler is likely gone this offseason. There will be at least one rusher added in free agency and Gus the Bus is a prime target that the Chargers will certainly consider.

Edwards had an excellent 2023 season with the Baltimore Ravens. Rushing for 810 yards on 198 attempts, he finished the year with 13 touchdowns. He added 180 receiving yards as well.

Being drafted by Joe Hortiz in Baltimore back in 2018, Edwards has been working under offensive coordinator Greg Roman for the past couple of seasons. His familiarity with Roman, as well as his bruising style, could be an excellent asset for the new offense.

He should be gettable with a one-year, $2 million deal and he has the potential to be more productive than Ekeler was last year.
