The Rams don't have the required depth in safety and will need high-end talent if Jordan Fuller leaves in free agency. The best replacement would be the top safety in free agency, Antoine Winfield Jr.

Shockingly, Winfield was not voted into his second Pro Bowl in 2023, but he is one of the best safeties in the league, having just finished sixth in the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year voting.

He ranked first in interceptions, forced fumbles, fumble recoveries, and passes defended while finishing second in tackles and sacks for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Winfield became the first player ever to put together at least 100 tackles, five sacks, 10 passes defended, five forced fumbles, three interceptions, and four fumble recoveries in a season. He is a one-man wrecking ball on the defensive end with unparalleled versatility.

Winfield can line up in the box, or the slot, as well as play as a roaming free safety. He can play in either single-high or two-high coverage shells. This allows the 25-year-old to fill in wherever needed. The Rams, who were in the bottom half of the NFL in passing yards allowed, could use a player of Winfield's caliber and versatility.

The Bucs will likely use franchise tag on Winfield Jr. but he should be the top of the free agent list for the Rams, as well as plenty of other teams in the NFL.
