The Rams need a reliable option at tight end after Tyler Higbee and Hunter Long are both expected to be out with serious injuries to start next season. Plus, even without the injuries, the tight end has long been a position that needs an upgrade for the Rams. Los Angeles has lacked a high-level playmaker there for a while.

Adding a tight end in the draft is certainly an option. But if the Rams want to go the free agency route, the best option they have is Dalton Schultz, who spent the last season with the Houston Texans.

The 27-year-old is as reliable and consistent as they come. He didn't miss a beat despite transitioning from the Dallas Cowboys to the Texans last offseason. He continued to put up his career marks playing with C.J. Stroud as he finished the season with 59 receptions, 635 yards, and five touchdowns.

Schultz is not the most explosive playmaker out there but he has been a solid and productive tight end for the last four seasons. He has also earned PFF grades above 60.0 for blocking for the past five seasons, making him an all-around weapon on the offensive end.
