The 2024 NFL Draft wrapped up last weekend and teams around the league are feeling good about the players they selected.

The Chargers nabbed nine total players, headlined by Joe Alt and Ladd McConkey.

Meanwhile, their division rival Denver Broncos picked Oregon QB Bo Nix with the 12th overall pick but got some help from a former Charger great.

Chargers Rumors: Phillip Rivers Played a Role in the Denver Broncos Selecting Bo Nix

ESPN Adam Schefter gave some insightful nuggets on his podcast regarding former Chargers great Phillip Rivers' influence on the Broncos' choice of Nix.

"Phillip Rivers was really impressed by Bo Nix. He's like Sean, this guy can spin it. And Sean, this guy is bigger than I thought. And Sean, this guy is a better quarterback than I thought. I think Sean Payton and the rest of the Broncos are thinking Phillip Rivers is working with this guy down in Alabama and he sees what he sees."

The Broncos took the biggest cap hit in NFL history at $85 million by releasing Russell Wilson in March. Sean Payton wanted to select his franchise quarterback and Nix is that guy.

The positive report from the 42-year-old played a role in Denver selecting Nix in the first round. Rivers played in the NFL for 17 seasons and was one of the most productive players at the position.

He's sixth in NFL history in passing yards (63,440) and passing touchdowns (421). Rivers knows what it takes to succeed in the league and he thinks Nix has all the tools needed.

With the combination of Rivers raving about Nix and the Broncos being a division rival, the Chargers will be watching his career very closely.
