The Los Angeles Rams have officially entered a post-Aaron Donald era after the star defender's recent retirement. While fans knew this was a possibility after past consideration of walking away, it doesn't make the loss hurt any less.

However, for anyone holding out hope that Donald will change his mind, his latest comments show how much he needed to hang up his cleats.

Donald stated bluntly, "I'm burnt out" in a clip he shared to his X/Twitter account. The Super Bowl champion also noted he's "full" and "satisfied" with what he was able to accomplish in his 10 NFL seasons.

No one can really argue with Donald's decision given this information. We've seen quite a number of players keep their careers going despite clearly not having their edge in order to chase some extra paychecks.

Donald, meanwhile, is leaving the game while still playing at an incredibly high level. The 32-year-old made the Pro Bowl every season of his career, while racking up a whopping eight First Team All-Pro nods and three Defensive Player of the Year awards to boot.

Considering the staggering heights he reached, and the consistency to go with it as well, it's no wonder Donald feels like he has nothing left to accomplish. His openness with losing the drive to give it 100% every Sunday shows that this is the perfect time for him to hang his cleats up, even though he probably has quite a bit left in the tank yet.
