Angels News: Patrick Sandoval Will Be the Mound for Opening Day
The Angels are looking to start the season off right and get some positive momentum to begin the season. Los Angeles hasn't made the playoffs since 2014 and they are looking to get their first victory of the year with Sandoval.
Sandoval has a nice variety of pitches with a good feel for the strike zone. The 27-year-old throws an excellent change up and has a slider, curve, and fastball in his arsenal.
He's been with the Angels for the past five seasons but hasn't posted a winning record yet. Overall, he's 17-37 with a 3.83 ERA and 448 K's.
The California native has the stuff to be in command on the mound and loves to paint the corners. Last season, Sandoval had a 1.51 WHIP and notched 128 strikeouts.
Los Angeles needs to have players outside of Mike Trout to step up to have a real chance of doing something this season.
The Angels aren’t expected to do much this year as they have the best odds (+2400 on FanDuel Sportsbook) to finish with the worst record in baseball. However, if Los Angeles can see some growth from young players they might have a promising future.
Odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
