Update: The Angels will send a player to be named later or cash considerations to the Braves in exchange for Guillorme, per MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. To make room on the roster for Guillorme, Los Angeles transferred Anthony Rendon to the 60-day injured list.

The Los Angeles Angels made a minor trade on Thursday to bolster their infield, which has been decimated by injuries this season.

Per Daniel Alvarez-Montes, the Angels reportedly acquired veteran infielder Luis Guillorme from the Atlanta Braves. We don’t know what the Angels are sending back to Atlanta for Guillorme. The 29-year-old signed a one-year, $1.1 million deal with the Braves in the offseason.

The Angels need infield depth as Anthony Rendon, Miguel Sano, and Michael Stefanic were all placed on injured reserve over the last month. Furthermore, second baseman Brandon Drury is dealing with a hamstring injury, while third baseman Luis Rengifo is battling an illness.

Los Angeles called up Cole Tucker and Ehire Adrianza from Triple-A Salt Lake to replace those injured players in the starting lineup. Adrianza is hitting .192 with a home run and two RBI this season, while Tucker is slugging .227 with one RBI.

Guillorme hasn’t been that much better offensively in his short stint with the Braves (hitting .150 with two doubles and three RBI) this season. However, the Angels hope Guillorme can look like the player we saw in 2021 and ‘22 with the New York Mets, when he hit .265 and.273 respectively.

Along with his bat, Guillorme also showed that he was a capable defender at multiple positions in New York as he played third base, second base, and shortstop. The Angels will take any help they can get after taking two out of three on the road from the Pittsburgh Pirates.
