In preparation for the Summer Olympics in Paris, France, later this month, Team USA has been scrimmaging against the USA Men’s Select Team, which features a lot of young players in the NBA and Duke freshman Cooper Flagg.

The Select Team came ready to play on Monday as they pushed Team USA to the brink as Flagg made a few highlight plays, which caught the attention of media and NBA coaches in attendance.

However, it would be Team USA getting the last laugh on the Select Team as Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Davis got a game-sealing block on Golden State Warriors second-year point guard Brandon Podziemski.

The young guard tried to take Davis off the dribble and pull up for a game-winning jump shot, but it didn’t work as Davis held his ground and got the block.

Team USA needed that block from Davis as social media would’ve had a field day about the senior team losing to the select team. The scrimmage would have been the most talked about story, along with Flagg’s performance leading up to their first showcase game on Wednesday night against Canada.

After getting pushed to the limit by the Select Team, Team USA will need to be on their A-game during the showcase games as they will play Canada, Australia, Serbia, South Sudan, and Germany over the next two weeks.

It will be a good opportunity for this group to work out any questions they might have before the real action begins in Paris on Jul. 28 against Serbia in group play.
