Chargers Commit to Rebuild by Losing Four-Time Pro Bowler in Projected Trade

Bleacher Report's projected trade of Joey Bosa for a third-round pick is simply not happening for several reasons.

Bleacher Report recently ran an article with a list of possible offseason trades that could impact the 2024 playoff race.

We will cut them some slack because they repeat multiple times that these trades are unlikely, but the one they suggested for the Los Angeles Chargers is simply ludicrous.

The article has LA sending Joey Bosa to the Bills for a 2025 3rd-round NFL Draft pick. While that compensation isn’t horrible (considering his contract), the context of the trade simply makes no sense.

Projected Trade: Joey Bosa to the Bills for a 2025 3rd-Round Pick

Jim Harbaugh has never had a losing season in four years as an NFL coach and it’s extremely unlikely that he’s going to put himself in a position to break that streak this offseason.

All you have to do is look at LA’s transactions so far under Harbaugh.

The Chargers have already made some big-name acquisitions like Bradley Bozeman, J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards, DJ Chark, Kristian Fulton, and Denzel Perryman.

And of course, you could counter those additions by bringing up how the team moved on from Mike Williams and Keenan Allen.

But those moves also allowed them to restructure the contracts of Bosa and fellow edge rusher Khalil Mack to keep their dynamic duo.

After working to restructure those contracts, they would simply trade one of those players?

It just doesn’t make sense.

You can bet that Harbaugh is going to do everything in his power to turn this team into a winner before he even contemplates rebuilding.

And the Bills would have to do some dramatic roster shuffling to clear up at least $16 million in cap space to add Bosa.

We’re not saying the Chargers won’t ever consider trading Bosa. But this offseason? And to Buffalo? No chance.

Better luck next time, Bleacher Report.
