The Los Angeles Chargers had a chance to make a splashy pick on the offensive side of the ball by taking a wide receiver or tight end with the No. 5 overall pick.

However, Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh and the front office addressed the trenches and took former Notre Dame offensive tackle Joe Alt. Alt was viewed as the top offensive lineman in this year’s class and should be a great addition to the Chargers.

Alt has been making the media rounds since being drafted in the first round last week and was asked by the Chargers’ media team about who has texted him.

The former Notre Dame standout said Rashawn Slater and Mr. Quarterback his name Justin [Herbert] and added that Herbert texted him, “Hi, my name is Justin and I play quarterback.”

Chargers fans had fun with Alt’s interview on Twitter talking about what he was wearing and the size of the microphone.

PrizePicks commented on the interview saying, “Bros already stopping traffic.” Also, another fan said, “That’s actually a real sized mic btw.”

Other fans on Twitter said that Herbert must’ve loved the pick if he’s texting, while another fan said the rookie offensive tackle loves Herbert’s humor.

It seems as if Chargers fans already love Alt and that’s a good sign as he has the tall task of keeping Herbert clean in the pocket and hopefully helping Los Angeles get back to the playoffs.
