Chargers Get Big Suspension News After Week 1 Fight vs. Raiders
The Los Angeles Chargers rolled into Monday feeling good. They secured a 22-10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in the first game of the Jim Harbaugh era.
It wasn't pretty but a win is a win. Even though they came out victorious, there was a big fight that happened between Chargers receiver Joshua Palmer and Las Vegas cornerback Jack Jones.
Late in the fourth quarter after a failed 2-point conversation, Palmer and Jones got into a fight where punches were thrown. They were both ejected and the NFL further reviewed the disagreement.
24 hours after the game, the NFL came to a decision and it was some good news for the Bolts.
Chargers News: No Players Will Be Suspended Following Fight
According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the NFL decided not to suspend any of the players involved in the fight.
Although no suspensions were handed out, some fines could be delivered. The Chargers' wide receiver corp has already undergone a lot of change this offseason so losing Palmer for any amount of time wouldn't have been ideal.
Thankfully, Palmer won't miss time. After the game, he revealed that Jones was throwing punches all game long and he wanted to defend himself.
The Chargers were looking to become a more physical team under Harbaugh so Palmer sticking up for himself and his teammates highlights that.
Now that no suspension will be handed out, Los Angeles can focus on defeating the Carolina Panthers in Week 2 and starting the season off 2-0.
