The Los Angeles Chargers were crushed on the scoreboard and injury report on Sunday by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Chargers lost by 10 points in Week 3, but fans were more worried about starting QB Justin Herbert. Heading into Sunday’s game, Herbert was dealing with a high ankle sprain, which did not improve.

On Monday, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that Herbert’s X-rays were negative after the game and will be monitored throughout the week. Nonetheless, Los Angeles is dealing with another tough injury on offense.

Rapoport reported Monday afternoon that rookie offensive tackle Joe Alt suffered an MCL sprain in Sunday’s contest and is expected to miss some time. However, the good news for LA fans is that Alt doesn’t have to get surgery.

On the other hand, this isn’t great news for the Chargers in the short term as they will face the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday afternoon.

Los Angeles’ offensive line didn’t do a good job of protecting Herbert or backup Taylor Heinicke as they allowed five sacks and seven QB hits by the Steelers’ defensive front. The Chargers will play a Kansas City defensive line that features Chris Jones and George Karlaftis.

The Chiefs' defense only has six sacks on the season, but that could drastically change with Alt out and Rashawn Slater dealing with a pectoral injury. Los Angeles is a seven-point underdog on DraftKings Sportsbook, but that could change before Sunday.
