Chargers Take Big Step Towards Signing One of Top Remaining Pass Rushers
The Los Angeles Chargers have undergone a massive change along the roster and coaching staff this offseason. Jim Harbaugh became the head coach for the Chargers in January and has stamped his imprint on the roster.
It started with releasing WR Mike Williams and trading WR Keenan Allen while making Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa restructure their current deals.
Los Angeles also added veterans like Denzel Perryman, Gus Edwards, Hayden Hurst, and Will Dissly in free agency.
Now that the NFL draft is on the back burner, the Chargers are looking into the free-agent market again and are one step closer to signing one of the best pass rushers available.
Chargers News: Free Agent LB Bud Dupree Wraps Up Official Visit with Los Angeles
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Chargers and free agent LB Bud Dupree finished a visit on Thursday. Dupree has been in contact with the Atlanta Falcons and Pittsburgh Steelers, both teams he's played for.
Dupree is a powerful presence coming off the edge, who can play well against the run and get after the quarterback.
He does a superb job setting the edge and has a few go-to pass-rush moves. In his nine-year career, Dupree racked up 305 total tackles, 70 tackles for loss, and 53 sacks.
He finished with at least six sacks in four seasons, including 6.5 in 2023 with the Falcons.
The potential addition of Dupree to the Chargers' defensive front could be a sneaky plus for the roster at this point of the offseason. He would step into the No. 3 pass rusher role behind Bosa and Mack.
