It's been a rather disappointing offseason for the Los Angeles Clippers after an embarrassing performance in the playoffs.

They were sent home in the first round by the Dallas Mavericks, failing to move past the first round for the third straight campaign.

They had some big free agents hitting the market which ultimately led Paul George to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers. They retained James Harden on a two-year, $70 million deal.

Kawhi Leonard's health is always in question so they need to continue adding talent to the roster. The latest reports reveal the Clippers are interested in a guard on the open market.

Clippers News: Los Angeles Wants To Bring in Tyus Jones

According to Mike Scotto of HoopsHype, the Clippers are interested in adding Tyus Jones via sign and trade from the Washington Wizards.

"Tyus Jones, HoopsHype’s top free agent on the board, is continuing to receive interest as a sign-and-trade candidate from several teams, including the Los Angeles Clippers, league sources told HoopsHype. The Clippers can dangle some combination of the expiring contracts of PJ Tucker and Russell Westbrook and could offer draft pick compensation or Bones Hyland to the Washington Wizards for helping to facilitate a potential sign-and-trade trade."

Jones is a very reliable playmaker on the floor. He is a solid shot creator who has the court vision to consistently find the open man.

One of the best parts of his game is the lack of turnovers. This past season, he had an assist-to-turnover ratio of 7.3:1, breaking his own NBA assist-to-turnover ratio of 7.04:1 that he posted in 2021-22 with the Memphis Grizzlies

In 66 starts for the Washington Wizards in the 2023-24 season, the 28-year-old averaged a career-high 12 points, 7.3 assists and shot 41% from downtown.

Having Jones and Harden in the fold would give the Clippers one of the best playmaking backcourts in the league.

It'll be fascinating to see how things pan out over the next couple of days for Los Angeles.
