Los Angeles Lakers fans rejoiced earlier in the offseason once Los Angeles decided to move on from head coach Darvin Ham following the first-round loss to the Denver Nuggets. The Lakers are still looking for his replacement but Ham already has a new job lined up.

The 50-year-old coach is heading back to the Milwaukee Bucks, where he will join the coaching staff of Doc Rivers. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Ham was sought out by multiple teams this spring but chose to head back to Milwaukee where he spent three seasons as a player and four years as an assistant coach.

Lakers News: Darvin Ham Joins Doc Rivers' Coaching Staff in Milwaukee

Darvin Ham's tenure with the Lakers received a ton of criticism from the media and the fanbase. However, he still managed to make the playoffs in both seasons, going all the way to the conference finals in 2023. Considering the ill-fitting roster and lack of depth on the team, it's hard to argue that Ham was not successful in Los Angeles.

However, it was about time that the Lakers and Ham parted ways. He had worn out his welcome within the fanbase and the organization.

Now, he has a chance to revive his career in a familiar franchise and get back to being a head coach elsewhere.

There is a decent chance he might get that opportunity with the Bucks. Rivers is the current head coach in Milwaukee and the 2023-24 campaign was a total disaster for the team.

Since being hired mid-season, the team went 17-19 and lost in the first round of the playoffs. If they were to start next season in a similar fashion, Ham might get his shot at head coaching sooner than expected.
