Harbaugh was interviewed on NFL Today during Sunday's pregame playoff coverage. He told the crew he's spoken with his new quarterback since taking over, and Harbaugh revealed he was even "a little starstruck" talking with Herbert for the first time.
Judging by this admission, the hype around the Harbaugh-Herbert pairing isn't just something those on the outside are feeling. The recent National Championship winner is eager to get started with his new QB, who still has potential waiting to be tapped.
Surely, the feeling is mutual on Hebert's behalf. He's set to work with a coach who is a bonafide winner no matter what level of football he's in. He's coming off a national title at Michigan, and he helped take the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl the last time he was in the NFL.
This hiring should set up Herbert to enjoy the success a quarterback of his talents is expected to have. It's an absolute travesty he's appeared in just one postseason game since entering the league, but Harbaugh is just the person to right that wrong in a hurry.
